Collecting Child Support for Victims of Domestic Violence?

Episode 9 of the Custodial Support Forum is dedicated to Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which was created more than 25 years ago, in 1987.  The Custodial Support Foundation donates services to victims of domestic violence, who are owed child support.

 

Part 1 of the Episode 9, exposes the problem of domestic violence in the U.S., and the challenges of collecting child support from an offender.  Susan De Jackmo, Assistant Director of the Bergen County Department of Human Services, Division of Alternatives to Domestic Violence explains the cycles of violence, and how intimidation is the first act of domestic violence, not physical action.

 

Part 2 of Episode 9, provides solutions for victims of domestic violence, who are owed child support to protect themselves while taking the steps to provide support for their children.  The Custodial Support Foundation makes a donation to the Alternatives to Domestic Violence, which was accepted.

The Custodial Support Foundation provides necessary steps to maintain the confidentiality of victim's information, while providing investigative, legal, and collection services to seize and liquidate noncustodial parents assets to pay their arrears.

Kai D. Patterson received his B.S. in Mathematics with concentrations in Aerospace and Computer Science from Hampton University.  Mr. Patterson is responsible for innovations for NASA, Telecom, NFL, Real Estate and Missing Children

 

Mr. Patterson was raised by a single parent mother, who never received child support but struggled to ensure he would be a success.  In honor of his late mother, he founded the Custodial Support Foundation to service parents owed child support.

Alexandra B. Stremler, Esq. was the President of the Custodial Support Foundation, and provides legal analysis services for custodial parents and noncustodial parents to enable each client to receive the .

 

Mrs. Stremler's  s the founding Partner of the Law Office of Alexandra B. Stremler.  Mrs. Stremler received here Juris Doctor at University of Florida Law School, and has practiced Family Law for more than 22 years.

Benjamin G. Kelsen, JMC is the founding Partner of the Law Office of Benjamin G. Kelsen, Esq., LLC.   Mr. Kelsen received his Bachelor of Arts in History at theYeshiva University and his Juris Doctor at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, NY.


Judge Kelsen is a dedicated advocate with a long-standing interest in offering true guidance, who also assists in the preparation of the legal documents to enable custodial parents to receive Child Support Enforcement Orders.

Antoinette Dismukes is a single custodial parent owed over $62,000 in child support arrears by the noncustodial parent of her child, and recently subscribed to Project Child Support's Collection Program.

 

Miss Dismukes shares her plight in previously attempting to collect the arrears her child is owed, and provides insight into some of the problems that many custodial parents experience when trying to collect child support.

Susan De Jackmo is the Assistant Director of the Bergen County Department of Human Services, Division of Alternatives to Domestic Violence (ADV).  Alternatives to Domestic Violence is exclusively devoted to domestic violence intervention.

ADV offers a full range of specialized services including crisis intervention, counseling, legal advocacy and assistance, court appearance preparation, court accompaniment, individual, group, and family counseling, information and referral to other needed services, community education, and professional training.
